Finally, I made it to a Joyce Meyer Conference! For some time, I have desired to attend because I love her gift of teaching the Bible. I didn’t know what to expect, so initially, I planned to attend the Friday night session only. The next morning, I almost remained in bed but with the nudge of the Holy Spirit and my husband, I returned and I’m so very thankful I did! I felt as though the Lord had a few golden nuggets waiting for me and I didn’t want to regret not being present to receive them.
I assumed the place would be filled with entirely women but there were men present as well. It was a beautiful rainbow of people from various races and experiences. We were brought together under one roof and occasion to experience a time of oneness and encouragement in the Lord. There were three sessions; each having a unique message by Joyce Meyer. Each session began with prayer and inviting worship by Christy Nockels. The worship along with stage lighting & effects created a sweet ambience in the place.
We were so enthralled in the Spirit that when we came down from the high of worship, Joyce Meyer had walked out onto the stage and the crowd erupted into a great applause. I recall thinking of how often I’ve seen her on television and to see her in person was truly a blessing. I arrived early with the intentions of finding a seat down near the stage for a good view. As always, she was her usual self – humorous, authentic, and full of personal stories that illustrated biblical truths aimed to mature us in the faith. On occasions, throughout the sessions, a woman would yell out, “We love you Joyce!”
Session one, she taught on the parable of the Prodigal Son with a break-down of the three characters. Each represented an attitude & lesson that we, as Christians should study for our personal growth and relationships. Session two was the parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard. Again, we must evaluate our hearts toward others. Why do we engage in comparisons or concerns with what others have, do or receive? The focus should be on our response to God’s plan for our lives. Lastly, the topic for session three was a teaser during sessions one and two – to bring us back for the final session. Joyce Meyer referenced that session three would be a message she would be preaching to herself. So of course she knew that we would be nosey enough to return for details. Session three’s teaching was based on Ephesians 4:29 – Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (NIV) She really preached and taught a good Word. “Words are containers for power.” she said. We’re all guilty of not being mindful of the influence of our words. We allow words to slip through our lips about ourselves and others that should not be spoken. We hear you Joyce!
I decided not to go into great detail of each session because I feel only Joyce Meyer can really say it as it should be said. It was my first time attending a Joyce Meyer Conference and it was well worth it. Another great plus was meeting & talking with other women seated around me. I met a few super ladies and I look forward to staying connected. There were some things I learned and other things confirmed, so I’m feeling good about the overall experience.
Several resources were recommended and available for purchase at joycemeyer.org. I have included a few at the Women Encouraged Shop for Featured Products. As Joyce mentioned, we need to make a habit of “Enjoying Everyday Life”! I don’t know about you but I’m all in!
